What the analyst said

Piper Sandler analyst Harsh Kumar reiterated an Overweight rating and $250 price target on Broadcom Limited (NASDAQ: AVGO).

“Strong AI Growth Drives Earnings Beat; AVGO reported a strong quarter nicely beating January quarter estimates as well as expectations for the April quarter guide.

The big driver continues to be XPU and AI related networking which amounted to $4.1 billion in revenues for the January quarter and is expected to rise to $4.4 billion in the April quarter (up 44% Y/Y).

The non-AI business within semiconductors was actually down roughly 9% in the January quarter on a sequential basis but is expected to flat-line into the April quarter.

Enterprise software by comparison grew very strongly on a sequential basis by 15% and is expected to be slightly down sequentially going forward.

Management noted that 70% of their largest software customers had adopted VCF from VMware. All in all, we continue to be impressed with AVGO’s execution and reiterate our OW rating.”
