What the analyst said
Stifel analyst Ruben Roy reiterated a Buy rating and $132 price target on AMD (NASDAQ: AMD)
“Key Takeaway: In our view, AMD’s sale of ZT System’s manufacturing base to SANM aligns with the former’s stated goal of technological expansion with a focus on AI infrastructure.
More importantly, however, this sale reflects our original thesis; AMD’s acquisition of ZT was motivated by a shift towards rack-scale AI solutions.
We believe that AMD’s ability to leverage ~1,200 engineers with rack-scale experience should provide the company with a critical cog in its long-term AI roadmap and could accelerate time to market with competitive infrastructure systems.
AMD also noted that while the company expects to leverage a number of manufacturing partners, Sanmina will be a preferred new product introduction manufacturing partner for its rack-scale roadmap, which should benefit from the working partnership between the ex-ZT Systems engineering team and the manufacturing side of the enterprise.”
