What the analyst said

Guggenheim analyst Michael Morris lowered the price target on Meta Platforms Inc.

(NASDAQ: META) to $875 (from $900) while maintaining a Buy rating.

“Second-quarter results showed accelerated revenue and profit growth, with $20.4bn in operating income 19% above consensus, and 3Q revenue guide similarly ahead.

Meta’s financial strength reflects industry-leading advertising products, meaningful impact from AI-based tools and a continued healthy ad environment.

This strong financial performance bolsters management’s commitment to further investment, with 2025 spend guidance largely unchanged, and early looks at 2026 ahead of the current consensus model, with opex growth acceleration (versus consensus slowing 20%→14%) and “similarly significant” capex growth to the $30bn incrementally incurred in 2025 (implying a nearly $100bn annual spend level vs. our $83bn, consensus at $77bn).

At after-hours valuation of 14x 2026E EBITDA (ex-reality labs losses) we expect investors will continue to view alignment with CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s five pillar AI strategy as attractive given the balance of near- (improved advertising, more engaging experience), intermediate- (business messaging) and longer-term (personal superintelligence, devices) goals.

We see shares as attractively priced for investment in one of a small number of companies uniquely positioned to drive generational change in the deployment of new technology in the everyday lives of consumers and businesses.

We have lifted our revenue, capex and opex estimates, resulting in ~2% increases in our 2026/27 operating income estimates as summarized within.

We raise our 12-month price target to $875 from our prior $800 on estimate revisions and a modestly higher target multiple reflecting increased confidence in the long-term return profile of near-term investments.”
