What the analyst said
Mizuho analyst Lloyd Walmsley reiterated an Outperform rating and $950 price target on Meta Platforms Inc.
(NASDAQ: META).
“We see the Meta equity financing helping remove part of the equity overhang. Investors feared they would have to wait until the Class C shares were established in Jan ’27. The pull-forward helps.
The size of the raise was broadly in-line. Gross dilution amounts to ~5% though this should be largely offset with lower interest expense if it reduces debt issuance.
The next overhang we see is guidance for expenses and capex in 2027. Clarity here, likely on 4Q earnings, will help.
In the meantime, positive potential catalysts could include (1) commercial agreements related to Muse from OTAs or eCom companies, (2) new model related developments, (3) positive news related to enterprise AI revenue streams, all of which could bolster confidence in the pace of monetizing the AI investment.
We make no changes to estimates pending details.”
