Needham Initiates SpaceX at Buy, $200 PT
Needham analyst Ryan Koontz initiates coverage on SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPCX) with a Buy rating and a price target of $200.
“SpaceX is the category leader in orbital infrastructure with a multi-year lead, having established a significant cost and cadence advantage in launch to construct an even greater and more lucrative moat for its Starlink constellation.
Starlink transitioned in 2025 to a proven, high-margin, growth driver with 10.3MM subscribers across 160 countries and $11.4B in revenue.
The Starship launch vehicle offers asymmetric upside: targeting 90%+ cost/kg reduction versus Falcon 9 and entirely new Starlink business models spanning broadband, mobile, and, ultimately, orbital compute.
In all these markets SpaceX’s extreme vertical integration provides a durable advantage and economics. Recently acquired xAI adds the Grok frontier model, AI factories, and Cursor coding platform.
Our $200 PT is based on an EV/S multiple of 15x our 2028 revenue estimate.”
