Erste Group analyst Hans Engel downgraded Applied Materials (AMAT) from Buy to Hold on August 5, 2026.
“Advances in AI are driving massive investments in advanced semiconductors, state-of-the-art DRAM (including high-speed memory), and the latest technologies.
AMAT supplies the production equipment for these technologies and benefits from this trend.
However, revenue and profit growth this year are lower than the sector average.
The stock’s P/E ratio, on the other hand, is higher.
The potential for further gains in the stock price is therefore limited.”
