What the analyst said
KeyBanc analyst Justin Patterson lowered the price target on Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) to $385 (from $410) while maintaining an Overweight rating.
“Alphabet’s 3Q results reinforced concerns we had heading into the print, re: Search is decelerating and margins have peaked NT.
This could create an air pocket over the next 1-2 quarters as investors await signs for whether this is transitory or structural.
We’re in the transitory camp; the ramp in query volumes suggests Search growth can improve over time, and Cloud should temper P/E compression (we see 17-18x ’27E P/E as a NT floor).
We lower our PT to $385 (23.3x ’28E P/E) to reflect our lower EPS forecast; we maintain our OW rating.”
