What the analyst said

BofA Securities analyst Vivek Arya downgraded Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) from Buy to Neutral with a price target of $100 (from $145).

“We downgrade INTC to Neutral from Buy.

In our view, the stock has not communicated enough traction with external foundry customers, while its data center strength is offset by a surprisingly sharp drop in PC shipments (down 25-30% QoQ in Q4, further inventory correction expected in 1H27).

Data center CPU is doing well in a rising agentic tide, but faces a tight supply (substrate) environment, and products are not yet technically competitive against AMD/ARM-based rivals that are growing 2x-4x faster.

On the positive side, we acknowledge INTC’s longer-term ability to develop a competitive domestic foundry with any signs of traction potentially driving a recovery in a relatively under-owned stock.”
