What the analyst said

Stifel analyst Ruben Roy lowered the price target on Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) to $90 (from $110) while maintaining a Hold rating.

“Revenue of $16.5bn (+21% y/y, ~$0.2bn above the guidance midpoint and in line with ~$16.5bn consensus), adj-GM of 44.1% (210bps above guide) and adj-EPS of $0.52 versus $0.38 guidance and ~$0.41 consensus.

DCAI revenue of $7.3bn (+78% y/y, +17% q/q) at a 42% operating margin, was above expectations.

The 4Q guide, however, is well below expectations with revenue of $15.0-16.0bn (midpoint ~$1.8bn below ~$17.3bn consensus), adj-GM of 38.0% and adj-EPS of $0.25 (versus ~$0.40 consensus), on an accelerating PC inventory correction (CCPG down >20% q/q) and an extended shutdown at Fab 28 in Israel (~$300mn of revenue and ~200bps of adjGM).

Management also framed 2027 as an investment year, with capex “up strongly” and FCF unlikely to be positive.

While execution against a longer-term opportunity set continues, we expect the near-term debate to shift to gross margin progression from here and 2027 cash burn.”
