What the analyst said
Goldman Sachs analyst Toshiya Hari lowered the price target on Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) to $18 (from $19) while maintaining a Sell rating.
“Intel beat 4Q24 Street consensus but guided 1Q25 revenue to decline 14% qoq at the mid-point (5% below Street consensus), citing potential weakness across all major segments, and non-GAAP gross margin to 36.0% (i.e., lowest in the past 25 years excluding 3Q24 [18.0%] during which an impairment charge was included in non-GAAP results).
While we appreciated management’s candor on the earnings call with respect to its ongoing challenges, we remain cautious on the stock and believe Intel will need to demonstrate market/wallet share stabilization in the Data Center business and/or a sustained improvement in profitability for long-term investors to engage in the stock.
Reflecting near-term weakness in CCG and DCAI, we reduce our 2025/26 revenue and non-GAAP (excl. SBC) estimates, on average, by 3% and 17%, respectively.”
