What the analyst said

Mizuho analyst Vijay Rakesh raised the price target on Rivian Automotive Inc (NASDAQ: RIVN) to $13 (from $11) while maintaining a Neutral rating.

“RIVN reported good 4Q24 results with better profitability and deliveries, which tracked ~14.2K units (up ~2% y/y).

We note: 1) 4Q24 marked first quarter of positive GM at ~10% driven by regulatory credit tailwinds; 2) 2025E full-year deliveries were guided to ~48.5K (down 6% y/y), below consensus ~54.9K; 3) RIVN is opening RCV sales to all buyers (Link) as management noted they see 2025E AMZN (covered by James Lee, Outperform $285PT) EDV deliveries down y/y; 4) the company plans to open 30 new service locations in 2025E (71 currently) as it expands its footprint; and 5) the R2 remains on track to enter production in 1H26E at Normal, IL.

We forecast 2026E deliveries tracking ~74.5K units, below cons. of ~94K deliveries though above S&P Global Mobility’s outlook for ~56K units produced, as we see challenges to near-term EV volumes.

Maintain Neutral, adjusting estimates and to $13 (prior: $11).”
