What the analyst said
Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Andres Sheppard reiterated an Overweight rating and $355 price target on Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA).
“On 7/30, Tesla announced that it had signed a $4.3B deal with South Korea’s LG Energy Solution (373220-KR, NC) to procure lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries for use in its energy storage systems, from LG’s Michigan plant.
In our view, this aligns with TSLA’s efforts to reduce reliance on Chinese suppliers (to please the administration and to mitigate tariff impact, in our view).
This agreement will run from August 2027 to July 2030 with options to extend.
Additionally, on 7/27, Tesla announced a $16.5B multiyear deal with Samsung Electronics to produce its next-generation AI6 chips (at Samsung’s new Texas plant).
We expect these chips will materially support Tesla’s full self-driving systems, robotaxis, and its Optimus robots.”
