Benchmark Maintains Hold Rating on Meta
Benchmark analyst Mark Zgutowicz reiterated a Hold rating on Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ: META).
“Meta’s proposed settlement now covers 52 state and territorial AGs, including a separate agreement with Texas joining the original 51-jurisdiction agreement, and increasing the headline consideration from roughly $17.1B to $18B.
Florida and New Mexico are the only states remaining outside the agreement.
Subject to court approval, Meta will pay approximately $12.7B guaranteed over ten years, with another ~$5.3B contingent on YouTube and TikTok adopting comparable teen protections and contributing to the states –see specifics below.
The settlement resolves participating AG claims involving alleged addictive product design, misleading safety representations and under-13 data collection, while requiring age assurance, default time and nighttime limits, school-hour notification restrictions, stronger parental/content controls and independent oversight.
It does not resolve private personal-injury claims, school-district and municipal litigation, mass arbitrations, or other federal and international matters.”
