What the analyst said

Mizuho analyst Vijay Rakesh raised the price target on Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) to $23 (from $20) while maintaining a Neutral rating.

“We take a look at INTC following recent reports of a potential breakup/spin-off of its businesses (Link).

Key takeaways include: 1) potential headwinds to TSMC being sole purchaser of INTC’s foundry business as U.S. officials likely to prefer a U.S. company take part in the deal as well, 2) potential products spin-off to AVGO (Outperform, $260 PT) is possible but challenging, given AVGO’s current net debt of ~$57B following the VMW acquisition, 3) split potentially results in sale of MBLY (Neutral, $17 PT) shares, and 4) a potential IPO/privatization of Altera earlier than expected.

We continue to rate INTC at Neutral with no change to our estimates, but raise our PT to $23 from $20 as we see INTC’s foundry potentially gaining steam under a renewed push by the Trump administration to bring AI chip production to the US.”
