What the analyst said

Freedom Broker analyst Saken Ismailov downgraded Meta Platforms Inc.

(NASDAQ: META) from Buy to Hold with a price target of $800 (from $680).

“Meta Platforms, Inc. (META) outperformed even the most optimistic expectations for key performance indicators in the second quarter of 2025, delivering impressive revenue and profit growth.

This performance was driven by a recovery in advertising pricing, heightened user engagement, and the widespread adoption of AI tools.

Operating margins saw a notable boost thanks to sustained revenue growth paired with disciplined cost control.

Meta’s management has raised its revenue guidance for the third quarter of 2025 and upwardly revised its full-year capital expenditure expectations.

This move underscores the company’s strategic emphasis on building its proprietary AI infrastructure.

While these investments are poised to drive stronger revenue growth in 2026, they also result in increased depreciation, amortization, and compensation expenses, which may temper profitability growth.

Another catalyst for future revenue growth is the anticipated debut of advertising formats within WhatsApp.

We maintain a positive outlook on Meta’s performance and elevate our price target from $680 to $800.

Nevertheless, we’re adjusting our recommendation from “Buy” to “Hold,” as the current premium valuation multiples already encapsulate the anticipated growth rate in the company’s earnings.”
