What the analyst said
Aletheia Capital analyst Warren Lau reiterated a Sell rating and $250 price target on Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL).
“Apple’s 1Q27E (Dec-Q) guidance confirms our view that FY27E is shaping up to be a year of profitless growth, as decelerating revenue and escalating costs cloud the earnings outlook.
Rising memory costs, higher OPEX, and slowing Services growth are the primary culprits.
Following a profitability peak in FY26, we expect both gross and operating margins to contract by ~3ppts YoY in FY27E.
Particularly concerning is that Services revenue is on track for its slowest expansion since 3Q23, slowing to 8–9% YoY in 1Q27E, which will further weigh on profitability.
Ironically, the stock continues to serve as a defensive safe haven for investors seeking shelter from aggressive AI capital expenditure elsewhere.
We maintain our Sell rating on Apple with an SOTP-based target price of $250.”
