What the analyst said

KeyBanc analyst John Vinh reiterated a Sector Weight rating on AMD (NASDAQ: AMD)

“AMD posted strong 1Q results and 2Q guidance, which both exceeded expectations.

Despite concerns regarding the China AI chip ban, which is expected to negatively impact ’25 revs by $1.5B, of which $700M is anticipated in 2Q, upside to 1Q/2Q was due to strength to Client (particularly DT PCs) and Gaming, in which console inventory has normalized.

While not seeing pullins, PC/Gaming is expected to be below seasonal in the 2H.

Mgt reit MI355 is expected to ramp mid-year with MI GPUs expected to return to y/y growth in 3Q and to grow strong DD% in ’25. We’re encouraged by these results and as such, are raising our ests.

Maintain Sector Weight.”
