What the analyst said

Stifel analyst Ruben Roy raised the price target on Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) to $24.50 (from $21) while maintaining a Hold rating.

“Intel reports earnings aftermarket on Thursday; it represents Lip-Bu Tan’s (LBT) second earnings call and his full-quarter results as CEO (he joined midway through 1Q, around ~5mo. ago).

Consequently, we hope to hear more around his tactical vision to drive Intel’s turnaround, after his recent moves to divest non-core functions, reduce labor and hire key talent, which we view positively thus far.

We think results will be largely in-line with consensus (~$12.0bn revenue, 36.2% adj-GM, $0.01 adj-EPS) and believe that longer-term commentary tied to (i) 18A production, (ii) 14A ramp and (iii) portfolio reshaping (i.e. divesting non-core functions, investing in core AI-centric hardware and software offerings and improving financial health) will hold more weight this earnings call than anything else.

We are optimistic and anticipate C2H26-C1H27 as the window of more material inflection for INTC, contingent on execution; F2Q earnings should aid that visibility.

We remain Hold until catalysts materialize.”
