What the analyst said
Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Deepak Mathivanan reiterated an Overweight rating and $920 price target on Meta Platforms Inc.
(NASDAQ: META).
“As capex spending ramps further over the next 12-18 months, depreciation expense is set to accelerate further.
For META specifically, we are modeling FY26E/FY27E depreciation expense growth of 52% and 47% respectively, up from 19% (or 38% exserver life change) this year.
In addition to an increase in capital intensity, META’s depreciation expense is also likely to face upward pressure from incremental mix-shift towards shorter duration assets (Servers, GPUs, etc.) in FY26E as the company deploys more compute for Super-intelligence efforts in newer DCs…META also faces incremental expenses from other infrastructure opex that are recognized across the P&L.
Putting all this together, we think total opex growth could exceed +25% CAGR over the next two years.”
