What the analyst said

Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Deepak Mathivanan reiterated an Overweight rating and $920 price target on Meta Platforms Inc.

(NASDAQ: META).

“META Connect 2025 kicks off tomorrow (09/17) with the CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s keynote at 8pm ET. We expect the 2-day event to feature several product launches on AR and wearables.

For context, Meta Connect 2024 featured the launch of new VR affordable headset (Quest 3S), preview of Orion (AR smart glass prototype), and AI integrations for AR experiences (i.e., memory recall, conversational assistance, etc.).

In 2025, we expect focus to be on new smart glasses and other wearable devices.

Specifically, press reports suggest that META will launch new smart glasses (internally dubbed as Hypernova / Celeste) with a small heads-up display (HUD), along with updated line of Ray-Bans.

Additionally, press sources report META could enable controls for glasses with wristbands. The company is also likely to provide an update on its progress with Orion.

On the AI front – we expect to hear about new developer tools for AR built on top of the company’s advancements in AI models and recent partnerships.”

“META shares outperformed Nasdaq by ~200bps in the 7-days following Connect over the last two years.

While we do not expect to see meaningful change in narratives post Connect 2025, we believe META’s efforts to build / perfect new form factors and engagement models using AI for the post-mobile world is significantly under-appreciated.

We reiterate our Overweight rating and our 12-month $920 PT.”
